notes on a sermon on the Holy Spirit

You can be an heir or child (alive- quickened; born- born again; adopted- indwelt & saved) and still not have reached adulthood (filled with the Spirit, a believer in Christ, obedient to the will of your Father- the work of the Spirit performed until the day of Christ!)

The Father’s appointed time for us to come out from the schoolmaster of the law was the incarnation of Christ; now the law is only our history and we are to be filled with the Spirit.

Works salvation is no salvation; works gospel is no gospel; belief in works salvation gospel is no act of faith in Christ.

Belief in Christ is an outworking of God’s work of grace; works salvation is a perversion of the intellectual pride.

Our hope is not in our works or belief but in the work and faith of Christ; the Spirit’s faith in us lays hold on Christ’s work and cries to our Father for us.

The Holy Spirit does the work of regeneration as well as the work of comfort and promise after we believe, to continually help us serve God.

If you are a child and have been made alive by the Holy Spirit, ask after Him that made you alive, ask that He be given to you the more, ask that He work in your life, ask to be with Him and be filled with Him, and ultimately that you can please Him.

It is the work of the Holy Spirit to give us the desire and ability to love and serve God and to pull our hearts toward Him.
